Jessica Jordan is a native of Richmond, VA and has been a certified nurse-midwife for 16 years, and delivered over 700 babies. She received her B.A. from William and Mary in 1976. After having her last baby with a nurse-midwife she became impassioned by nurse-midwifery and decided on a change of career. She received her nursing degree from the Medical College of Virginia aka VCU and her midwifery degree from Frontier Nursing Service, and her Masters in Nursing from Case Western Reserve.
Jessica is an important asset to our community and advocates for midwives, moms, babies and women’s health. She has served as the Legislative Chair of the VA. Chapter of the American College of Nurse-Midwives and in 2010 received the Birth Matters Virginia award for her advocacy work. She has caught babies in a hospital setting for 13 years and most recently has been assisting women in an out-of-hospital setting. For the past two years, she worked to establish an accredited free-standing birth center in the Northern Neck, a rural area of Virginia. Jessica is excited to join our collaborative team and be able to offer women in our community more choices in childbirth! In her spare time Jessica enjoys spending time with her husband and three grown children, sailing, cross country skiing, and reading.
